Acrobats and Tigers and Contortionists, Oh My!

On July 1 we went to the circus and were all blown away. Adam and Ian both, separately, said in awe: "It really is the greatest show on earth!" Our entire group, ages 3 (Luke) to 77 (Dudley) were spellbound the entire time.

June

I made a goal to post once a month this year, so it's about time for June.

On June 3-4, Adam and Ian went to Cub Scout Day Camp up on Mt. Lemmon. They had a lot of fun, with their favorite parts being the BB gun shooting and archery. Here are some photos of them working on the special staffs they made and ornamented while at camp:

Our biggest event of June was our trip to Utah. John had to work, so Michelle and the boys picked took Aunt Shari, Annie, and Sara instead. Luke and Annie especially enjoyed each other's company, as they always do. Here are the kids at a picnic with Grandpa Tex:

And here are some of the fun costumes they put together with Grandma Hansen's dress-up box:

Adam wore this purple hair nearly the whole time we were up there.

This is Ian's "lacker" costume. (I don't know what it means either, but I think that's a "lacker" look on his face!)

And this is Heath, a knight in shining armor and shiny gold harem pants.

Then, on Father's Day, another mysterious heart. I made a glaze to go on the pork tenderloin for dinner, and when I took it out of the microwave, this is what it looked like:

It must mean that Dad = Love!

Momentous May Miscellany

Here are some of our family's important events in May...

Adam's 5th grade Promotion
Believe it or not, Adam will move up to middle school next year, so the school held a nice little program to celebrate 5th grade promotion. During that program, we learned that Adam was voted "Best Evil Laugh" and "Future World Leader" by his classmates. (Does that mean he's a future evil world leader?)

This photo shows Adam and his best friend, Andrew, displaying their promotion certificates. Yes, I know it looks like his teacher, but it's really his best friend!

Heath's Kindergarten "Graduation"
Personally, I think a kindergarten graduation is kind of ridiculous, but they're all just so cute that you can't help enjoying it.

This is Heath receiving his "diploma" from Principal Van Hise while his teacher, Mrs. Cain, stands by.

This is Heath hugging his friend Tyler in celebration after the ceremony.

This is Heath celebrating some more!

Immediately after coming home from the last day of school, we all left for Rocky Point, where we enjoyed a beautiful long weekend of swimming, snorkeling, sandplay, and shrimp!

We had a great Easter Sunday at the Park at Anthem with Travis, Cassity, David, Robin, Justin, Shari, Anne, Sarah, and Grandpa.

John's shadow

Luke was shadowing John, as usual, as John worked on the car. After a few minutes John noticed Luke was being really quiet, so he climbed out from under the car and found Luke asleep on the driveway:

That's devotion!

John stood over him to keep the sun off him until I got home from picking up the big boys, so we could see him and snap some photos.

Don't worry -- after documenting it for posterity, we took him inside to finish his nap on his own soft bed!

The Passing of the Torch

Can you believe Adam is big enough to mow the lawn?
And he can't wait to do it again!
(Notice the eye protection and hearing protection; John is such a good dad!)

This is for my siblings...

I'm watching the made-for-TV "Alice in Wonderland" with the kids as I type, and wishing I had my brothers and sisters here to watch with me. John just doesn't get it. :)

The most memorable scene, for me:

And here are a couple of articles you will only appreciate if you saw this as a child:
